Species Distribution modelling (SDM) involves the use of computer algorithms to predict the potential distribution of a species in geographic space and time using environmental data and a mathematical representation. This is widely used method for pressing environmental issues such as biodiversity conservation (Franklin 2010), invasives risk assesment (Ficetola 2007), climatic change impact on species distribution (Kearner 2010)  and Zoonotic diseases (Gonzalez 2010).
Species distribution models used in several research areas in conservation biology, ecology and evolution.
The SDM is also known as Ecological Niche modelling, Envrionmental niche modelling, habitat modelling or climatic envelop modelling. 

In this workshop, participants will be trained species distribution modelling using MaxEnt algorithm and R package.

Workshop on Open Data Kit (ODK) and Species Distribution modelling using R.


The Open Data Kit in short, ODK is a free and open source software used for developing mobile phone app for field data collection.

Species distribution modelling (SDM) using several techniques or multiple algorithms now a days are widely used technique. The ensemble models are widely used method for pressing environmental issues such as biodiversity conservation (Franklin 2010), invasives risk assesment (Ficetola 2007), climatic change impact on species distribution (Kearner 2010) and Zoonotic diseases (Gonzalez 2010). Species distribution models used in several research areas in conservation biology, ecology and evolution. The SDM is also known as Ecological Niche modelling, Envrionmental niche modelling, habitat modelling or climatic envelop modelling.

Our goal is to equip participants to model species distribution using 10 different algorithms (including MaxEnt) and ensemble it to produce robust single model using R package.
