Institute for Biodiversity conservation and Training is pleased to announce online certificate course on Species Distribution Modelling with MaxEnt. The course will be delivered online (Live) on 4th & 5th January 2020. In this course, the participants will be introduced to fundamentals of Species Distribution modelling and hands-on-training with MaxEnt and Data prepration.
What is MaxEnt?
MaxEnt (Maximum Entropy) is a free and open-source tool which helps to model species niches and distributions from a set of environmental variables and known distributions. MaxEnt is a very a popular, robust tool used for modelling ecological niches of species. MaxEnt has over 3500+ publications. This tool is effectively used in planning conservation, modelling invasive risk with response to climate change.
By the end of the course, the candidates will be familiar with theory and gain practical experience in Species Distribution modedlling for Past, present and Future using MaxEnt.
Upon completion of this course candidates will be able to able quickly publish SDM paper in reputed journals/thesis.

Students pursuing Bachelor's, Master Degree, M.Phil., Post-Doc, Research Scholars, Researchers, Scientists who are working across broad range of fields, including, conservation biology, life sciences, ecology, evolutionary biology etc.
Experienced and would like enhance knowledge using MaxEnt can also apply.

2. Data prepration using open source GIS softwares for maxent use.

Selection of Candidates:
This course accepts 25 students based on first come first serve basis and relevance of the course. The selected candidates will be notified by email and are required pay course fee within 5 calendar days from the date of selection.
The course will commence at 9:00 am and expected to complete by 5:30 pm everyday.
What is the cost of the course?
The cost of the course is Rs. 4,000.00 (Rupees four thousand only). The fee covers the lectures, hands-on training, certificate, course material, manual and data sets.
What will I get?
Upon successful completion of the course the candidates will receive Certificate via email.
Attendance to all the sessions are mandatory.
